Lou Doillon returns with new single

Lou Doillon, a 40-year-old singer, has released a new single titled I Try My Best, marking the start of her fourth album, expected to be released in 2027. The single was co-produced with American songwriter Jonathan Wilson in California.

Pause and personal life

Doillon took a break from releasing music after her 2019 album Soliloquy, during which she gave birth to her second son. She also mentioned overcoming what she called the "loser syndrome" in a 2019 interview, indicating a shift in her approach to her career.

Themes and inspiration

The new single explores themes of love, childhood, fame, and the impact of social media on personal identity. Doillon reflects on the idea of what aspects of life we choose to show versus what slips away, inspired by experiences like emptying her mother's house and her own apartment.

Album details and label

Fifteen years after her 2012 album Places, Doillon will release her fourth album, titled Patch My Work, under Columbia/Sony Music. The album will be released in spring 2027, and she will perform a concert at La Cigale in Paris on May 27, 2027.
