Residents of the fictional village of Emmerdale have gathered to honor the memory of Dawn Taylor, portrayed by actress Olivia Bromley, following her tragic death. The event has been especially painful for Joe Tate, played by Ned Porteous, who lost both his fiancée and their newborn baby, whom he has decided to put up for adoption. Joe’s family, including his mother Kim Tate (Claire King) and his father-in-law Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough), are deeply worried about his emotional state. Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle) strongly disagreed with Joe’s decision to place the child for adoption and was also upset that he was banned from attending Dawn’s funeral. However, Joe eventually relented and allowed Billy, along with Dawn’s children, Clemmie and Lucas, to attend the funeral. This small concession came after much tension between the two characters. Dawn first appeared in Emmerdale in 2018 while searching for a drug dealer named Simon McManus. She later formed a friendship with Ryan Stocks and moved in with Pete and Rhona Goskirk. It was later revealed that Dawn had a connection with Harriet Finch, who briefly acted as her stepmother under the alias Michelle during an undercover operation involving Dawn’s future father-in-law, Will Taylor. Dawn became a central figure in the village, with notable relationships with Jamie Tate and Billy, whom many fans believed to be her true love, before she eventually ended up with Joe. She was taken hostage by a serial killer, was spiked by Kim, and later adopted Clemmie. Dawn also played a role in covering up the murder of a police officer, DI Malone. Her recent relationship with Joe was complicated, including an incident where she pushed him out of a window. Dawn’s death occurred earlier this month during what was meant to be her wedding day to Joe. A car crash caused by Jimmy King destroyed the wedding marquee, and although Dawn initially seemed unharmed, she gave birth to their child prematurely and later died from a severe hemorrhage. Joe is now struggling with grief and considering revenge against those he believes are responsible for her death, including Caleb Miligan and Billy, who are suspected of plotting to harm him.
