Man wins 500,000 euros in Villeurbanne

A man from Villeurbanne won 500,000 euros by purchasing an EuroMillions scratch card on September 22. The ticket was bought at Le République, a tobacco and newspaper shop located at 109 cours Émile-Zola in the city.

Winning number linked to top prize

The winning number on the scratch card was 31, which corresponds to the maximum prize of 500,000 euros available for that game. The winner received the payment on September 28, six days after buying the ticket.

Winner's identity withheld for security

Le Progrès, the local newspaper, did not reveal the winner’s identity to protect his privacy and ensure his safety. According to FDJ, the French lottery organization, the prize will help the winner achieve a personal goal—specifically, buying his own home.

Similar win in nearby Meyzieu

This is not the first time a 500,000 euro prize has been awarded in the Lyon metropolitan area through the same scratch game. In September 2025, a pre-retiree from Meyzieu had also won the same amount with the same ticket.

Previous winner planned to invest funds

At the time of his win, the Meyzieu resident stated he intended to invest the money. Both winners, however, have chosen to keep their identities private, highlighting the importance of security in such situations.
