Fabien Galthié names new squad

Fabien Galthié, the head coach of the French rugby team, unveiled a new group of 42 players on Saturday evening, bypassing the completion of the 8th round of the Top 14, the top-tier rugby union competition in France.

Squad selection process

Galthié’s decision to announce the squad early indicates a strategic move to prepare for upcoming international fixtures, potentially allowing the selected players more time to focus on training and preparation.

Player inclusion and exclusion

Several players who had been in and out of the squad recently were included in the new list, while others who had been regular selections were left out, signaling potential changes in the team’s direction and strategy.

Rugby season structure

The Top 14 is a professional rugby league that runs from August to May, with teams playing a series of matches throughout the season, and international fixtures often influencing squad selections and player availability.
