Ubisoft, a major video game publisher, and its subsidiary studio Massive Entertainment have announced a new organizational structure aimed at streamlining the development and management of several key game franchises. This restructuring follows a period of internal changes at Ubisoft, including reorganizations and job cuts, as the company seeks to adapt to the evolving gaming industry. As part of the new setup, Massive Entertainment will now serve as the official label for the Tom Clancy video game series, which includes Ghost Recon, Splinter Cell, and The Division. These games are based on the fictional military and intelligence operations of the fictional character Tom Clancy, who is known for his realistic and detailed storytelling in the genre. Massive Entertainment, known for creating games such as Star Wars Outlaws, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, and Tom Clancy's The Division, will continue to develop and produce these titles. Ubisoft will still handle the publishing and distribution of these games, maintaining its role as the parent company. This move is seen as a way to centralize the development of the Tom Clancy franchises and ensure a more cohesive approach to their production and marketing. In addition to managing the Tom Clancy series, Massive Entertainment has also taken over March of Giants, a multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game that Ubisoft recently acquired from Amazon Game Studios. MOBA games are a popular genre in which players compete in teams to destroy the opposing team's base while defending their own. March of Giants is expected to begin playtests on Steam, a digital distribution platform for video games, allowing players to test the game and provide feedback before its official release. The restructuring highlights Ubisoft's ongoing efforts to reorganize its operations and focus on key franchises that have strong brand recognition and a loyal fan base. By consolidating these titles under Massive Entertainment, Ubisoft aims to enhance the development process and ensure that these games continue to meet the expectations of players around the world.
