Final season ends with dramatic cliffhanger

The fourth season of Lupin concluded on Netflix on Friday, October 23, 2026, with a dramatic and shocking final scene that left fans stunned.

Assane’s plans disrupted by an impostor

Four years after voluntarily surrendering himself in the third season, Assane Diop, played by Omar Sy, had planned to serve his sentence and move to Senegal with his son Raoul, portrayed by Théo Christine. However, his plans were disrupted by the emergence of a fake Lupin committing museum heists under his identity.

Impostor revealed as Assane’s biological daughter

After an intense eight-episode pursuit involving deepfakes and drones, Assane discovered the true identity of the impostor: Adèle Kapoor, played by Laïka Blanc-Francard, who turned out to be his biological daughter, born from a past relationship with Juliette Pellegrini.

Family tensions and a dangerous trap

In the final episodes, Assane attempted to reunite his fractured family and recover the precious "Joies de la Couronne." However, during the ultimate confrontation, he discovered that his son Raoul had orchestrated a fake captivity to lure him into a trap. Deeply hurt by his father's absence during his four years in prison and jealous of the growing bond between Assane and his sister Adèle, Raoul allied with Hubert Pellegrini, Assane's longtime enemy who had escaped during his transfer to Malaysia.

Assane sacrifices himself to save his son

In a final act of defiance, Raoul fled with Hubert Pellegrini in a helicopter, leaving Assane stranded amidst the police encirclement. The season reached its climax when Lieutenant Sofia Belkacem (Shirine Boutella) opened fire at the helicopter. In a final act of paternal sacrifice, Assane threw himself in front of the bullet to protect his son. Shot in the chest, Assane collapsed, leaving his fate uncertain.

Uncertain fate and no fifth season confirmed

The season ended with Assane's bloodied body, leaving his survival in question. While no official confirmation of his death was given on screen, the cliffhanger leaves the protagonist between life and death. It remains unclear whether Assane anticipated the shot by wearing a bulletproof vest, as is traditional in the novels of Maurice Leblanc, or if this marks the tragic end of the famous thief. Netflix has not yet confirmed a fifth season.
