Garmin has introduced thirteen new models in its Fenix 9 and Fenix 9 Pro series of outdoor sports watches, aimed at hikers, runners, and adventurers who need reliable gear for both fitness and exploration. The Fenix 9 Pro, available in three sizes—43 mm, 47 mm, and 51 mm—offers enhanced features such as an all-metal casing, a brighter AMOLED screen, and more detailed training data. The 47 mm version tested had a carbon gray finish, an AMOLED screen, and InReach connectivity, which allows for satellite messaging in remote areas. The watch uses an all-titanium casing, which is lighter than steel and stronger than aluminum, and it is waterproof up to 10 ATM, making it suitable for swimming and diving. It also includes a sapphire glass screen, which is highly scratch-resistant, and a new interface with double the storage capacity (64 GB) compared to the previous model. The Fenix 9 Pro's screen brightness reaches up to 3000 cd/m², similar to high-end smartwatches like the Samsung Galaxy Watch 9 and Apple Watch Series 12. The screen size increases with the larger models, but the pixel density is slightly lower on the 51 mm version. The watch features an always-on display and sleep tracking functions. It supports third-party apps through the Garmin Connect IQ platform and includes contactless payment via NFC, allowing users to make purchases with a tap. The Fenix 9 Pro is equipped with a heart rate sensor, GPS tracking, and advanced mapping capabilities. It uses a multi-GNSS chip that supports GPS, Glonass, Galileo, QZSS, and Beidou systems, improving location accuracy in various environments. GPS tracking can be adjusted for accuracy, standard use, long battery life, or battery optimization. When tested, the GPS accuracy showed only minor differences from the previous model, though performance in urban areas was slightly affected. Heart rate tracking was accurate when compared to a dedicated heart rate belt, though it may be less reliable in very cold conditions. New features include the Stamina index, which measures endurance during workouts, the ArcheryX profile for archery enthusiasts, and the "Epic" function for grouping and managing activities. Battery life varies by size: up to 10 days for the 43 mm, 18 days for the 47 mm, and 31 days for the 51 mm in connected watch mode. These figures depend on usage and settings. The Fenix 9 Pro is now available in France since August 29, 2026. Prices start at 1149.99 euros for the 43 and 47 mm models without InReach connectivity and go up to 1349.99 euros for the 51 mm model with InReach. The InReach version adds satellite communication for messaging in areas without cellular coverage, but it comes with an additional 100 euros cost and a subscription fee.
