Ajaccio's tourism office is promoting business travel outside peak season with infrastructure, partnerships, and incentives for events.
Ajaccio promotes business tourism
The Office of Tourism and Business Meetings in Ajaccio is organizing an edutour from October 27 to 29 to showcase the region as a destination for seminars, conferences, and group travel, especially during non-peak times. The event targets a dozen professionals who specialize in business tourism and events, offering them an opportunity to explore the region’s facilities, accommodations, and experiences.Event highlights collaboration
The edutour includes presentations by the Convention Bureau, the Ajaccio region's Congress Bureau, and the Office of Tourism along with its partners. Nathalie Cau, director of the Office of Tourism and Business Meetings, emphasized the goal of demonstrating the office’s ability to support event organizers, from planning to execution, through collective efforts involving the Office, its team, and local partners.Focus on off-season tourism
The initiative is part of a broader economic strategy to increase tourist activity in spring, autumn, and winter, when traditional tourism slows down. Business tourism is seen as a key market, with clients who spend on accommodations, dining, transportation, and activities. Nathalie Cau noted the aim is to attract these high-value clients during off-season and shoulder season, benefiting local partners.Ajaccio’s event infrastructure
Ajaccio already has the necessary infrastructure for business tourism, including a Congress Palace that can host large events. The Office of Tourism also highlights other venues such as the Cube and the Cité Grossetti/M3E, as well as event spaces in hotels. The Convention Bureau plans to act as the main contact point for companies and event agencies looking to organize events in the region.Tourism network and accessibility
The Office of Tourism has 101 partners specialized in business tourism, out of a total of 349 partners. These include accommodations, activity providers, local producers, gastronomy professionals, and service providers. In 2025, the region recorded 1,164,385 tourist overnight stays across all client categories. To improve accessibility, the office has a discount agreement with Air Corsica, offering up to 30% off flights from September to May.Growing interest in Corsica
Laura Lazzarin, an event project manager from the Toulouse-based agency Ann'events, noted the importance of creating comfortable and suitable travel options for clients from Occitanie, especially Toulouse. Her agency is expanding its list of destinations, with Corsica attracting interest due to its strong local identity and friendly atmosphere. Corsica’s appeal is growing among clients seeking unique and welcoming destinations.Diverse event program planned
The Office of Tourism has developed a program centered on three complementary themes to showcase the region's diverse offerings and its ability to host professional events. Nathalie Cau expressed confidence that the initiative will highlight the region’s capacity to host high-quality events with authenticity and professionalism. The success of this strategy will be measured by the number of seminars held, additional overnight stays, and the economic benefits for local professionals.
