Ranking sparks debate

Classifying works is considered absurd by some, as comparing a dramatic miniseries of eight episodes to a sitcom that has accompanied viewers through part of their lives is subjective, emotional, and often changing. This ranking is proof of that: it is the third one compiled by Télérama in the last ten years, and each time, a different masterpiece has occupied the top spot.

Methodology and participants

In an attempt to obtain the most complete and balanced ranking possible, Télérama asked a dozen journalists, specialists, or lovers of television series to vote. Each selected the thirty most precious titles, reflecting a range of opinions and preferences within the television community.
