Alpine is revamping its lineup with electric and new models, including a new A110 and potential return to combustion engines, during the 2026 Paris Motor Show.
Alpine's future plans outlined
Alpine, a French carmaker known for its sports cars, is preparing a major transformation of its product line, with its general director Philippe Krief revealing the manufacturer's ambitions during the 2026 Paris Motor Show. The plan includes a new electric A110, several sporting versions, a four-seater model with a unique design, and even a possible return to internal combustion engines.New electric A110 in focus
The new electric A110 remains the top priority for Alpine, with the third generation expected by the end of 2027. This model will be based on a new architecture called the Alpine Performance Platform (APP), designed to support various body styles and powertrains. Krief noted that the car could arrive in 2027 or slightly later if development needs more time.Design changes and new models
The next model will keep a silhouette similar to the current A110, with proportions reminiscent of the classic Berlinette. A sculpture at the Paris Motor Show gave a preview of this design. However, under the bodywork, almost everything will change, including the interior and mechanical components.Convertible and 2+2 models planned
Alpine plans to launch a Spider version, a two-seater convertible, relatively quickly after the coupe. The manufacturer also aims to develop a 2+2 sports car, which can carry two additional passengers in the rear, offered in both coupe and convertible forms. Both convertibles will feature fabric roofs instead of rigid ones.Design inspiration and legacy
Alpine had initially considered drawing inspiration from the old A310 for its future four-seater sports car but changed its mind. Krief believes the A310's style is too specific to attract a large international audience. However, the A310 Vision concept at the Paris Motor Show might inspire a limited series, continuing the lineage of the A110 R Ultime, though production is not yet confirmed.Return to internal combustion engines
Alpine is also considering a return to internal combustion engines, with the APP platform initially designed for electric vehicles but modified to allow a combustion engine. Krief explained that engineers have widened the rear track to accommodate a central rear engine. However, no new internal combustion engines are scheduled, and the brand may need to find another supplier if required.
