Manga Ki-oon releases two end-of-year box sets

Manga Ki-oon has announced the release of two end-of-year box sets starting on November 5. One box features the manga Les Carnets de l'apothicaire by Nekokurage and Itsuki Nanao, offering the first three volumes for 23.85€, the same price as purchasing each volume individually. The other box includes Les Chats d'Ulthar and Le Molosse, both from the "Lovecraft Masterpieces" collection by Gou Tanabe, priced at 34€, matching the cost of buying the two books separately.

Plot of Les Carnets de l'apothicaire

Les Carnets de l'apothicaire follows Mao Mao, a 17-year-old girl trained by an apothecary from the pleasure district, who is kidnapped and sold as a servant in the imperial palace's women's quarter. As she navigates the dangerous political intrigue of the court, her knowledge of poisons becomes a double-edged sword. She is eventually noticed by Jinshi, a high-ranking official, who appoints her as the personal taster of one of the emperor's favorites, placing her in a perilous position where a single misstep could be fatal.

Setting and themes of Les Chats d'Ulthar

Les Chats d'Ulthar is set in a city where cats are revered and protected after a past event demonstrated their vengeful spirit. Barzai, a respected scholar, is the origin of this rule, but his obsession with knowledge leads him to break taboos and risk divine wrath. Meanwhile, Kuranès is driven by the dream of reaching the imaginary city of Céléphaïs, willing to risk eternal sleep to achieve his goal.

Plot of Le Molosse

Le Molosse takes place on a German submarine cursed and driven to the depths of the ocean. The crew faces fear and the unknown, while the heroes of the story are unafraid to desecrate graves to satisfy their passion for the occult. Their devotion to the Necronomicon, a book of black magic, leads them to discover that some things must remain buried forever. The same book guides a traveler through the desert in La Cité sans nom, where he realizes that human civilization is not the only one on Earth and that humans are insignificant in the face of unknown forces.
