Episode highlights sailing event

The 261st episode of Pos. Report, recorded in video from Saint-Malo in partnership with 11th Hour Racing, features two guests who will start on November 1 on the Route du Rhum-Destination Guadeloupe: Anne-Claire Le Berre (Upwind by MerConcept), the first woman to start in Ocean Fifty, and Pierre-Louis Attwell on the Imoca Resilient.

Preparation and pressure

Both guests described their first days in Saint-Malo, marked by increasing pressure as the start date approaches, and a change in scale for Pierre-Louis Attwell, who had competed in the Rhum in Class40 two years ago.

Anne-Claire's sailing journey

Anne-Claire Le Berre explained how offshore racing became an objective, reflecting on her first career in Olympic sailing and her role as technical director of the Initiatives-Cœur team. She took advantage of the Upwind by MerConcept project to secure her place in the crew before being chosen to compete in the Rhum solo in Ocean Fifty.

Pierre-Louis's personal challenge

Pierre-Louis Attwell, who was initially a sailing instructor, turned to offshore racing with participation in the Solitaire du Figaro in 2018—completed with very few resources and preparation—before launching a Class40 project under the colors of Vogue with a Crohn's disease, a condition he suffers from.

Personal message and future goals

He explained that he long hid his condition from his friends before daring to speak about it and now carries the message of "invisible diseases," the core of his new Imoca project. Anne-Claire Le Berre described how a first for women was prepared notably by finishing second in the Drheam-Cup in July, a performance that allowed her to gain confidence.

Future ambitions

Both concluded by discussing their sporting ambitions for the event and their future: the Vendée Globe in sight for Pierre-Louis Attwell, and likely a continuation in Ocean Fifty for Anne-Claire Le Berre.
