Beelink has introduced the ME Pro-2, a hybrid device that combines the features of a mini-PC and a Network Attached Storage (NAS) unit. A NAS is a device that allows multiple users to store and access data over a network, while a mini-PC is a small computer that can run operating systems like Windows or Linux. The ME Pro-2 is one of the first mini-PCs to use Intel's Wildcat Lake CPU, which is designed for efficiency and performance in compact devices. The unit includes two storage bays, allowing it to serve as a NAS, and has a compact size of 121 mm wide, 112 mm high, and 166 mm deep. It weighs about 1.5 kilograms and features a mesh front with a USB-A port and power button, while the back includes connectors and access to the storage bays. Inside the ME Pro-2, there is an Intel Core 3 304 processor from the Wildcat Lake generation. This processor includes one high-performance core and four low-power cores, allowing for efficient multitasking. It is paired with 16 GB of DDR5-5600 RAM, which can be upgraded to 64 GB. The device also includes a single M.2 2280 slot and 512 GB of soldered UFS 3.1 flash memory. Access to the M.2 and SO-DIMM ports is straightforward, but accessing the two storage bays requires a screwdriver, which may be a minor inconvenience for some users. The ME Pro-2 uses FygoOS as its default operating system for the NAS function. FygoOS is a dedicated NAS operating system that allows users to create RAID stacks, manage user rights, and set up storage quotas. The interface is described as clear and easy to understand, though the software is only available in English, which might be a limitation for non-English speakers. While FygoOS includes tools for virtual machines and multimedia management, it lacks some advanced features found in competing NAS systems like those from QNAP or Synology. In addition to its NAS capabilities, the ME Pro-2 can function as a mini-PC, allowing users to install operating systems like Windows 11. It comes with a 120 W external power supply, which is both lightweight and compact. The device includes a single front USB-A port (3.2 10 Gbps), two RJ45 ports (2.5 GbE and 10 GbE), a 4K@60 Hz HDMI port, and two Thunderbolt/USB4 ports (40 Gbps). Additional features include a 3.5 mm audio jack, Bluetooth 5.4, and Wi-Fi 6, making it versatile for various connectivity needs.
