Simon Cowell has stepped down from filming for Britain's Got Talent during the Blackpool auditions, with a guest judge expected to take his place. Cowell, 66, will not be present alongside the usual panelists Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, and KSI. This follows his earlier withdrawal from America's Got Talent filming in Los Angeles, where he needed to undergo a procedure for an ongoing back issue. Production company Fremantle is reportedly considering a male comedian to fill in during the remaining auditions in Blackpool while Cowell recovers from the surgery. A source told The Sun that Cowell was "gutted" to miss the auditions but needs to focus on his recovery. The source added, "Simon is of course gutted to be missing the auditions, but it’s important that he rests up now so he can make a full recovery." Cowell has faced a series of health challenges in recent years following a serious electric bike accident in 2020 that broke his back. The incident required extensive surgery and left him with significant physical challenges. In 2023, he reflected on the crash, explaining how close he came to living the rest of his life in a wheelchair. "It gives you a completely different outlook on life," he said. "In a positive way. It hurt — trust me — when it happened, but good things happened off the back of it." Cowell's absence from Britain's Got Talent comes at a time of speculation about the potential return of The X Factor. Fans noticed that the show recently changed its Facebook profile picture to its 2016-2018 logo, sparking rumors that the show might be rebooted. This is the third redesign of the show's branding, which now features just the letter "X" without the words "The" and "Factor." The change has fueled discussions about whether the show is preparing to return to television. Despite his absence from Britain's Got Talent, Cowell remains a central figure in the entertainment industry. His health issues have been well-documented, but he has continued to be involved in various television projects. His current situation highlights the challenges of balancing professional obligations with personal health, a topic that has become increasingly relevant for public figures in the entertainment world.
