Rennes faces road closures and detours starting November 2 for trambus and utility works, impacting traffic across the city.
Road closures in Rennes begin on November 2
Several roads in Rennes will be closed or restricted starting on Monday, November 2, including rue de Lorient, boulevard de Vitré, and avenue Henri-Fréville. The works will also affect rue de Saint-Malo beginning on November 4. Restrictions on rue de Lorient
Rue de Lorient will be closed in the west-east direction from November 2 to November 30 between boulevard Marbeuf and rue Kerviler. This restriction, related to the future trambus works, adds to several interventions on the road and networks that will modify movements starting with the resumption on Monday, November 2. Detour details for rue de Lorient
Between boulevard Marbeuf and rue Kerviler, west-east traffic will be prohibited until Monday, November 30. The announced detour will use boulevard Marbeuf and then rue Louis-Guilloux. This intervention is part of the redevelopment of rue de Lorient for the trambus, where the road remains reduced between the ring road and boulevard Marbeuf as part of the long-term construction project. Boulevard de Vitré closure
In the east of Rennes, boulevard de Vitré will be closed at the intersection with rue Michelet from November 2 to November 20 to secure a pedestrian crossing. From the south, the detour will go through avenue du Général-Leclerc, rue Beaumarchais, and rue Danton. From the north, vehicles will be directed to rue Danton and then avenue du Général-Leclerc. Avenue Henri-Fréville closure
In the south, avenue Henri-Fréville will be closed in the south-north direction from 9 am to 5 pm from November 2 to November 6 between boulevard Albert-Ier and boulevard de l'Yser. Enersud must intervene on the urban heating network. Two detours are announced: one via boulevard Albert-Ier, rue de Châtillon, and boulevard de l'Yser, the other directly via the two boulevards. Rue de Châtillon closure
Rue de Châtillon will itself be closed from November 2 to November 27 between rue d'Espagne and boulevard Louis-Volclair, for work on the potable water network. Vehicles will be directed through rue d'Espagne, rue d'Andorre, and boulevard Louis-Volclair. Therefore, routes must be adjusted according to the section and the date of travel. Rue de Saint-Malo closure
In the north of the city, rue de Saint-Malo will be closed in the north-south direction from 9 am to 4:30 pm from November 4 to November 20 between boulevard des Trois-Croix and rue Barthélémy-Pocquet. Eau du Bassin Rennais must intervene on the potable water network. The detour will use boulevard des Trois-Croix, avenue Gros-Malhon, and rue Barthélémy-Pocquet. Additional road restrictions
Rue de Vern, two other interventions will overlap: until November 6, one lane will remain available in each direction between parc relais La Poterie and porte du Blosne; from November 2 to November 13, alternating traffic will be implemented between rue Michel-Colomb and allée de Kerguelen, from 9 am to 4:30 pm, for a GRDF intervention. Closure on RD39
In Nouvoitou and Saint-Armel, RD39 will be closed from November 2 to November 27 at the bridge over the Seiche, at the location called La Motte, for maintenance of the structure's joints. From Saint-Armel, the planned detour will follow RD36, RD101, RD234, and then RD39. Therefore, movements between the communes will also be affected beyond Rennes. Information and planning resources
Rennes Métropole provides a map of disruptions and contact with the construction mediators. The schedule distinguishes full closures, limited restrictions to one direction, and interventions at specific hours, to be checked before each trip during the month of November.
