TOP 14 is a professional rugby union competition in France, featuring 14 teams competing for the league title. This weekend, TOP 14 teams ASM Clermont and Castres Olympique will face off in the fourth round of the season at the Marcel-Michelin stadium in Clermont. After three rounds, ASM Clermont is in ninth place with five points, while Castres Olympique is in seventh place with eight points. ASM Clermont has had a challenging start to the season, losing two of its first three matches—46-24 to Bayonne and 40-36 to Lyon—but managed a narrow 25-16 victory over Stade Français at home. Castres Olympique has shown a stronger performance at home this season, winning both of its matches at the Pierre-Fabre stadium against Vannes (29-20) and Toulon (29-27). However, their only away match so far ended in a heavy 43-29 defeat at Perpignan. The trip to Clermont carries a difficult memory for Castres, as ASM Clermont had defeated them 63-14 at the Marcel-Michelin stadium on 25 October 2025, a game in which Castres conceded nine tries and a 49-point deficit. That result is not one that Castres would want to revisit, especially in the same venue. ASM Clermont needs to turn its stadium into a stronghold in the league, as they currently have a three-point deficit compared to Castres. With two away losses and one home win, ASM Clermont coach Christophe Urios is looking for a strong performance in this match. Meanwhile, Castres is coming off a solid start to the season and will face Toulouse next weekend. However, Castres must prove it can perform well away from home, as the recent 43-point loss at Perpignan raises concerns about their consistency on the road. The match between ASM Clermont and Castres Olympique will take place on Saturday, 26 September, at 16h35 at the Marcel-Michelin stadium. It will be broadcast on Canal+ Live 3. One year after ASM Clermont’s dominant 63-14 victory over Castres at the same venue, this rematch promises to be more than just another September fixture—it is a chance for both teams to reset their positions in the TOP 14 standings.
