ASUS introduces new gaming headphones

ASUS has launched the ASUS ROG CETRA OPEN WIRELESS, a new set of premium wireless gaming headphones priced at 209.99 euros. The product is designed for both gaming and regular use, with features that support indoor and outdoor use as well as communication.

Design and connectivity options

The headphones feature an elegant design with a configurable RGB display for personalization. They are available with a 2.4 GHz wireless connection via a USB-C dongle or Bluetooth, and support simultaneous use on up to two devices with intuitive controls on each earpiece.

Sound and microphone features

The headphones include 14.2 mm diamond-like carbon-coated speakers and a channel on top of the headphone and another at the ear level, providing a surround sound experience. They also feature a quadruple microphone with AI-powered ambient noise suppression for calls, although this suppression does not apply to listening.

Comfort and durability

The open design of the headphones, which rest on the ear rather than inserting into it, is intended to be more comfortable and less invasive. They include a silicone hook for a secure hold and have a weight of 11 grams per headphone. However, some discomfort was noted after prolonged use, possibly due to individual factors.

Battery life and charging

The headphones promise 16 hours of use on a single charge, though testing showed around ten hours after personalizing audio profiles. The included charging case provides an additional forty hours of autonomy and supports fast charging, with fifteen minutes of charging providing about three hours of battery life.

Connectivity and software

The connectivity of the ASUS ROG CETRA OPEN WIRELESS relies on the proprietary ROG SpeedNova device and a 2.4 GHz band, ensuring robust connection and low latency even in environments with interfering signals. The product also includes a complete software solution through Gear Link, a smartphone application that allows users to configure the headphones and manage various features.
