Liverpool are reportedly considering moves for Lamine Camara and Manu Kone, following reports that Chelsea had shown interest in the two midfielders near the end of the transfer window. The English club was looking for replacements for Enzo Fernandez, who was set to join Manchester City, and had initially considered players like Morgan Gibbs-White and Alex Scott. However, their focus eventually shifted to Kone and Camara, who are both seen as potential upgrades in midfield. According to Italian reports, Chelsea were close to finalizing a deal for Kone, but Roma were hesitant to let him go, as he plays a key role in their plans. David Ornstein of The Athletic noted that Chelsea turned their attention to Camara after the Kone deal seemed uncertain. However, a proposed £47 million transfer for Camara from Monaco fell through at the last minute, as Monaco was unable to renegotiate the sale of Folarin Balogun to Everton. Liverpool had previously shown interest in Camara before Curtis Jones moved to Inter Milan. Ornstein suggested that any future move for Camara to Liverpool might depend on the future of Alexis Mac Allister, who is out of contract in 2028. Meanwhile, Liverpool were also monitoring Kone, alongside Manchester United, who had shown strong interest in the French international. Both Kone and Camara have three years left on their respective contracts, with Kone at Roma and Camara at Monaco. Camara’s agent, Diomansy Kamara, criticized Monaco for how they handled the transfer, calling for more respect for African players in the transfer process. In contrast, Liverpool have been more active in the transfer market, agreeing to a £123 million deal for Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain, making him the club’s second most expensive signing. They also completed permanent deals for Victor Munoz and Lucca Brughmans, though Brughmans returned to Genk for the rest of the season. Ronald Araujo joined on loan from Barcelona, and Jeremy Jacquet officially joined Liverpool after agreeing to a move in February.
