New Les Misérables adaptation gains traction

A new adaptation of Victor Hugo's Les Misérables has secured 1.5 million entries, boosted by school holidays. This performance surpasses the previous two films by director Ducobu, showing strong audience interest in the classic story.

Les Misérables maintains top position

Despite a slow start, Les Misérables has recovered with a stable audience of 335,000 entries per week. Over twelve days, the film has attracted 816,000 viewers, maintaining the top position in the box office rankings for the period.

Ducobu's film sees strong growth

Ducobu’s The Phantom of Saint-Potache is also performing well, with 334,000 entries in seven days. This represents a 2.5 times increase in attendance, bringing the film’s total to 846,000 entries and surpassing his previous films at the same stage.

Guillaume Canet's thriller makes strong debut

Guillaume Canet's thriller Karma has reached the third position in the rankings, attracting 287,000 viewers across 506 theaters. This is the second best launch for a thriller in 2026, outperforming his earlier film Blood Ties from 2013.

Animated films struggle with competition

The animated film The Island of Memories faces challenges, gathering only 178,000 entries in 542 theaters. This is far below the success of The Wild Robot, a recent Dreamworks film that attracted 364,000 entries in 2024.

Horror film and comedy see mixed results

The horror film Clayface has started well, with 131,000 viewers on 289 screens, positioning it well as Halloween approaches. In contrast, The King of Game struggled, attracting only 73,000 viewers, below the previous comedy by Éric Judor.

Independent films gain attention

La Gradiva, a film directed by Marine Atlan, has drawn 67,000 viewers in 115 theaters, securing second place in Paris. The film has received positive reviews and is expected to gain more traction through word of mouth.

Art and essay film remains under the radar

A Woman Today, an art and essay film, has been more discreet, gathering 47,000 visitors in 155 theaters. This is lower than the opening of Robert Guédiguian’s previous film, The Thief Magpie, which attracted 85,000 entries in 2025.
