New Smart Lock Model Released

The fifth-generation Nuki Smart Lock Pro has been introduced, maintaining the cylinder and key of existing doors while adopting a more compact design.

Features of the Smart Lock Pro

This connected lock integrates a three-speed motor, built-in Wi-Fi, and offers multiple access options. It is installed on the interior side and drives a key left in the lock, leaving the exterior unchanged and allowing occupants to retain their usual keys.

Comparison with Previous Models

The Smart Lock Pro shares similarities with the Smart Lock Ultra tested in 2025, both featuring a brushless motor and three speed settings. The Pro measures 7 cm in depth, compared to 5.8 cm for the Ultra, with an identical diameter of 5.7 cm.

Installation and Design Details

The Ultra requires replacing the cylinder with the one provided, while the Pro motorizes the existing one. Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 2.4 GHz, and Matter via Thread are included. Remote access via Wi-Fi does not require a Nuki Bridge gateway or additional components.

Aesthetic and Functional Design

The Smart Lock Pro is discreet once installed, featuring a body made of brushed stainless steel with a refined finish. Two base rings, black and white, are delivered to match the door. A luminous ring surrounds the central button.

Installation Process

The rotating body allows the lock to be operated manually from the inside. The mounting method depends on the protrusion of the cylinder on the interior side. Starting from 3 mm, the plate is secured by tightening three screws.

Preparation and Installation Requirements

Below that, an adhesive version is needed on a clean and flat surface. On a tested door, the screw mounting was used without drilling or disassembling the cylinder. The key is inserted, then the lock is engaged on its plate and turned to the right until it clicks.

Pre-Purchase Checks

The application guides each step, up to the positioning of the base ring. Pre-purchase checks are required, including ensuring the cylinder allows a key to be used from the outside while another remains engaged inside. The key must also fit in the lock's housing, with a maximum thickness of 4 mm and a maximum protrusion of 3.7 cm once inserted.

Daily Use and Operation

In daily use, unlocking is quick, initiated from the smartphone or the interior button. Three speeds are offered: Gentle for slower and quieter operation, Standard for a compromise, and Insane for speed.

Accessories and Battery Life

Optional accessories, such as a Keypad allowing code entry and models with a fingerprint reader adding biometrics, complete the possibilities. The Keypad 2 NFC, previously tested, allows unlocking by approaching a compatible smartphone.

Battery Specifications

The lithium-ion battery is integrated and cannot be removed. Nuki claims a recharge in 2 hours via the 2-meter proprietary cable provided. It is possible to charge on the door with an external battery or remove the device to connect it to a charger.

Battery Performance

According to Nuki, the autonomy reaches four to six months with Wi-Fi, five to seven months with remote access via Thread, and seven to nine months without remote access. The app warns when the charge drops below 20%. With an empty battery, the manual interior command and the external key remain usable.

App Features and Setup

The Nuki app assists with setup until calibration. With the door closed and unlocked, the lock detects the positions necessary for its operation. A calibration test is offered at the end.

User Interface and Settings

The main screen displays the lock's status and commands for operating it. The Functions and Configuration section includes many settings, such as the possibility to adjust the motor speed, use Night mode, set time slots, and create automations.

Automation Features

Auto Unlock uses the smartphone's location to detect departure, then return to the home perimeter, unlocking via Bluetooth near the lock. Auto Lock allows automatic locking after a delay. Lock 'n' Go provides relocking after a short delay, the time to exit.

Additional Features and Limitations

Night mode adapts behavior during a time slot. However, it is important to distinguish a locked door from a door that is actually closed. To know its real state, it is better to add the Door Sensor, sold separately.

Access Management and Customization

Permissions allow sharing access with time restrictions. The button and lighting are also customizable. The Nuki Smart Lock Pro modernizes the door without complicating its use.

User Experience and Design

Discreet, well-finished, and easy to install on a compatible cylinder, it is quick in daily use while offering several speeds to limit noise when necessary. The built-in Wi-Fi and the app rich in settings allow managing access without requiring an additional gateway.

Cost and Alternatives

The price remains high, and accessories such as the keypad or sensor also increase the cost. A convincing solution for those who want to keep their keys but choose when to do without them. The Nuki Smart Lock Ultra offers similar functions in a less deep format but requires replacing the cylinder with the one provided.

Competing Products

Larger and more accessible with its accessories, the SwitchBot Lock Ultra stands out with its removable main battery doubled with a backup battery and the Keypad Vision, offering facial recognition unlocking.
