The Aimargues municipality inaugurated its new medical and health center on Friday, October 2. The center will begin welcoming patients on Monday, October 5. The project, led by Mayor Jean-Paul Franc's team, aims to maintain the existing healthcare services, help health professionals set up in the area, and provide them with appropriate facilities. Rather than constructing a new building, the commune decided to renovate an existing structure that it already owns, giving it a new purpose. The mayor explained that this choice reflects a commitment to sustainability and quality, offering professional, adapted spaces to meet the real needs of residents and support them in their daily lives and access to care.
The center brings together a range of professionals, including doctors, nurses, a speech therapist, a psychologist, an osteopath, a psychomotor therapist, and a psychopedagogue. The annex building also houses DBCAudition, a clinic specializing in hearing aids. The SISA Les Saladelles, a multidisciplinary health house known as a multidisciplinary health center (MSP), also has a meeting room located there. The mayor emphasized that the project is based on the collaboration and complementarity of different healthcare professionals.
The project was funded by several organizations, including the CPAM (a French health insurance agency), the ARS (Regional Health Agency), the Petite Camargue intercommunal community, and the Gard department. Laurence Barduca-Fauquet, a departmental councilor, noted that difficulties in accessing healthcare professionals often lead to people giving up on treatment. She pointed out that those who are least mobile, most fragile, and in the greatest need of medical and social support are the ones who suffer the most from these challenges. This observation led the Department to adopt the health plan 2024-2027 on October 11, 2024, which includes the Aimargues commune.
Frédéric Meseguer, first vice-president of the CCPC and mayor of Beauvoisin, stated that the intercommunal community is especially pleased to have supported the Aimargues commune in its investments. He credited the competition fund, which enables the financing of this project and the renovation of public lighting, for this support. The annual amount distributed through these funds has been increased to one million euros, up from 600,000 on the previous mandate. This is described as a significant financial commitment, which the community can collectively take pride in.
