Playground Games, the British game developer known for titles like Forza Horizon and Fable, has confirmed that the Xbox Series X version of Fable will include a performance mode that runs at 60 frames per second (fps). This means smoother visuals and more responsive gameplay for players on that console. However, the developers have been careful not to reveal too much about how the game’s graphics will look on different platforms, including PC and other consoles. During a Q&A session at the Gamescom gaming expo, associate game directors Will Kennedy and Craig Littler addressed questions about Fable’s visuals. While they praised the game’s appearance on all platforms, calling it “great,” they avoided giving specific details about how the graphics might differ between PC and Xbox versions. Littler emphasized that the team is taking the same approach across all platforms, focusing on delivering a high-quality experience tailored to each system. Fable, which is set to launch on February 23, 2027, will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC. The game promises a substantial experience, with a main story that takes around 20 hours to complete. Playground Games also highlighted that the game’s life systems—mechanics that track character progression and interactions—offer “limitless” replayability, allowing players to experience the game in many different ways. Though the developers have not yet shared detailed information about PC and console differences, the confirmation of 60fps on Xbox Series X gives players an early look at one of the game’s performance features. As the release date approaches, more details about Fable’s visuals and gameplay are expected to be revealed.
