BHV Marais seeks judicial restructuring

Three months after unveiling a recovery plan, the BHV Marais department store in Paris has formally requested judicial restructuring to stabilize its financial situation and continue its recovery efforts.

Store faces financial and legal challenges

The Parisian department store has encountered numerous difficulties recently, including a dispute with its landlord over compensation for returning part of the store's walls. Its president, Karl-Stéphane Cottendin, claimed the landlord had not fulfilled its financial obligations.

Store remains open despite restructuring

Despite the restructuring request, BHV Marais remains open, with its staff still in place. Cottendin emphasized that the store’s goals remain unchanged, but cash flow issues have made it impossible to manage both recovery efforts and outstanding liabilities simultaneously.

Recovery plan announced earlier this year

In July, BHV Marais revealed a recovery plan aimed at revitalizing the department store. However, ongoing financial disputes with its landlord have complicated these efforts, leading to the decision to seek judicial reorganization.

Official announcement made on October 27

The management of BHV Marais officially announced the restructuring on October 27, stating it was a necessary step to secure the recovery plan after months of challenges at the former Paris City Hall Bazaar.
