Shooting at a guard in Cannes

Cloaked individuals fired shots at a man on guard duty in the Frayère neighborhood in Cannes on September 1st, according to a statement released by the prosecutor of Grasse on Wednesday, October 21st.

Suspects placed under investigation

Three individuals aged between 19 and 27 years were placed under formal investigation and placed in provisional detention following the incident. A 17-year-old minor was subject to a separate procedure before the juvenile court.

Vehicle found burned

On that day, the perpetrators fled "in a large-displacement vehicle," a vehicle that was later found burned in Grasse. A large-scale operation was conducted for the arrests.

Charges against suspects

An investigation was opened for "attempted murder in an organized group, organized group destruction of property belonging to another person by a method dangerous to persons, and participation in an association of wrongdoers with the aim of preparing a crime."

Identification of suspects

"The rapid analysis of samples combined with the results of the neighborhood investigation and the cross-referencing of technical and scientific police elements led to the identification of several individuals, some of whom are very poorly known to the police and the judiciary," explained the prosecutor in its statement.

Arrests and custody

The arrests of the suspects were carried out on October 12th and 13th. They were placed in custody and interrogated by the investigators before being presented to a judge.
