Brazilian filmmaker Kleber Mendonça Filho has been chosen as the president of the jury for the 18th edition of the Les Arcs Film Festival, which will run from December 12 to 19. This year, the festival will focus on Spain, celebrating its cultural and cinematic contributions. The lineup of films for the festival will be revealed on November 4, giving attendees and industry professionals a preview of what to expect. As part of the festival, the Industry Village will operate from December 12 to 15, offering a platform for networking and collaboration within the film industry. A highlight of this segment will be the France-Spain Co-production Meetings on December 15, organized by the French National Center for Cinema and the Arts (CNC) and the Spanish Institute of Audiovisual Communication (ICAA). These meetings will bring together eight Spanish film projects to explore potential collaborations with French production companies. Among the featured projects is 1615 by Marina Lameira Garayoa, a historical drama set in 17th-century Spain, and Estoque by Andrea Segarra Bueno, a psychological thriller exploring themes of identity and deception. Other notable films include Heurtebise by Octavio Guerra and Elisa Torres, which follows a group of friends in a small town, and Meravella Vermella by María Antón Cabot, a coming-of-age story set in a coastal village. The list also includes The Second Sex by Victor Alonso-Berbel, a feminist drama, Who Knows? by Carlo Padial, a mystery film, and Yesterday I Will Love You by Guillermo Benet, a romantic drama. The producers of these Spanish film projects will have one-on-one meetings with 30 French production companies, selected by the CNC, to discuss potential co-productions. These meetings aim to strengthen the ties between the French and Spanish film industries, encouraging the creation of new and innovative cinematic works.
