Kirstie Allsopp, a 55-year-old television presenter best known for her work on property shows, has given an update on her recovery following an accident during her annual birthday trip to Meadowgate in Cornwall. The incident occurred when she slipped on a muddy patch of a steep path, leading to an injury that required her to be transported by air ambulance to Barnstaple Hospital. Allsopp shared a series of photos on Instagram showing her leg in a cast, with extensive stitches on her calf, approximately one week after undergoing surgery. In her post, Allsopp described her current routine, which includes using a cold compression therapy system on her leg, reading, watching the TV show Frasier, and spending time with her sons, Oscar and Bay. She noted that she is beginning to feel sensation returning to her toes and up her leg, and she is focusing on the healing process, calling it an "exercise in patience and humility." Allsopp expressed appreciation for the support she has received, including messages of encouragement and the help of emergency services and hospital staff. She acknowledged the quick response from her son Oscar, who ran to get help, and the assistance from the RNLI and Cornwall Air Ambulance, which transported her to the hospital. At the hospital, she received a significant amount of pain relief and underwent surgery. Her recovery has involved wearing a boot and using crutches, but she remains optimistic about her progress. Allsopp praised the staff at Barnstaple Hospital, calling them "amazing, kind, and caring," and said she feels fortunate to have received timely medical attention and to be able to continue her work while on crutches. Looking ahead, Allsopp mentioned she plans to film the Christmas episode of her Channel 4 show in October, adapting her schedule to accommodate her injury. She joked that she will be "sitting down with her leg stuck out" during filming and noted that her leg looks as though it has been bitten by a shark. She also shared that her sons will be starting university soon and hinted at the possibility of publishing a book titled A Leg with a View next year. Allsopp remains positive and grateful, looking forward to recovering and returning home soon.
