Purported video claims Lady Diana is alive

A video circulating online claims to show Lady Diana Spencer, the late Princess of Wales, speaking to the camera and stating she is not dead. The video has appeared on platforms like Facebook and X, though no major news outlets have covered it.

Video identified as AI-generated

The video has been confirmed as a deepfake created using artificial intelligence. Les Surligneurs, a French news site, reported that the video was first posted on TikTok on October 4, 2026, with a caption stating it was AI-generated. The account is known for sharing AI-generated content of deceased celebrities.

TikTok's AI disclosure rules not followed

TikTok requires creators to disclose when AI is used in videos, especially to avoid spreading false information. However, this video was shared on other platforms without such a disclosure, raising concerns about how AI-generated content is handled across different sites.

Doubts about video's authenticity

Experts and media outlets have questioned the video’s credibility, pointing out that if Lady Diana were alive, the news would have been widely reported. This is especially notable given the global attention her 1997 funeral received.

Previous claims about Diana's survival debunked

This is not the first time rumors have surfaced about Lady Diana being alive. Similar claims have been debunked by reputable sources such as Reuters, Full Fact, USA Today, RTBF, and Maldita, which have investigated and refuted such theories in the past.
