The Roborock Saros 20 Neo robot vacuum, unveiled at the IFA trade show in Berlin in early September, is being positioned as the top model in Roborock's line of autonomous cleaning devices. Designed to manage complex home environments and tasks, the Saros 20 Neo aims to ease the mental burden of household chores. One of its standout features is the AdaptiLift 3.0 chassis, which can lift its wheels independently to cross thresholds with two steps, reaching up to 8.8 cm in total (4.5 cm for the first step and 4.3 cm for the second). This allows the robot to navigate between rooms with varying floor levels, such as those found in homes with multiple levels or uneven flooring. The robot uses a combination of advanced sensors and cameras to map and navigate its environment. At the front, it has an RGB camera paired with a structured light system, while a VertiBeam sensor monitors its sides. A LiDAR system provides a 360° view of the room, enabling the robot to recognize and avoid obstacles like cables, chairs, shoes, and even pets. The LiDAR can also retract, adjusting its height to slip under furniture with an 8 cm clearance while maintaining a 100° rear view. According to Roborock, the Saros 20 Neo can identify over 300 types of obstacles, surpassing the 200 types recognized by its predecessor, the Saros 10. The Saros 20 Neo is equipped with a dual anti-entanglement system that helps it handle hair and hairballs without getting stuck. It offers a maximum suction power of 36,000 Pa, making it effective at picking up both fine dust and larger debris. The robot uses two rotating mops that press up to 14 N against the floor and spin at up to 200 revolutions per minute, helping to lift stubborn stains. Assisted by AI, the robot detects tough stains and focuses extra cleaning efforts on those areas. If the mops become too dirty, the robot automatically re-passes those spots to ensure thorough cleaning. The FlexiArm system allows the side brush to reach dust near the baseboards and transfer it to the central suction roller. The robot also uses a mop that shifts outward to clean areas its body cannot reach. When moving over carpets, the Saros 20 Neo lifts its wheels to prevent wetting the fabric. For thick carpets, it can leave its mops at the base to perform dry cleaning. The robot is largely self-sufficient in its maintenance, with a docking station that cleans and dries the mops, charges the device, empties the dust bin, and fills the robot with water and detergent. The system even analyzes the water's color to ensure cleaning quality. Human users only need to occasionally empty the dirty water tank, refill the clean water and detergent, replace the 2.7-liter sealed dust bag, and clean the base of the station a few times a year. The base can be removed and rinsed in a sink or shower. The Saros 20 Neo uses SmartPlan 3.0 to create cleaning plans based on the type of floor and the size of the rooms. The system can remember high-traffic areas, detect curtains to clean behind them, and identify where pets prefer to spend time. The robot is controlled through the Roborock app or by voice, with its built-in assistant "Hello Rocky" working even without Wi-Fi. It is also compatible with smart home systems like Matter, Alexa, Siri, and Google Home. The Roborock Saros 20 Neo is available for purchase at the recommended price of 1,299 € on Amazon and the Roborock website.
