Paris extends summer terrace season

The City of Paris has decided to extend the operating period for summer terraces until November 30, 2026, without charging extra fees or taxes. This move aims to support businesses affected by damage from violent incidents that occurred in October.

No extra cost for extended season

Businesses with already approved terraces can keep their outdoor seating open for an additional month without paying more. The usual operating hours remain at 10 p.m., and the earlier exception allowing operation until 11 p.m. was only valid from June 21 to August 30, 2026.

Violence caused damage in October

The extension follows damage caused by violence and looting during the weekend of October 17 and 18, which affected shops and professional spaces in several areas of the city. The City of Paris reported 451 businesses were vandalized in a situation report from October 21.

Support available for affected businesses

Affected businesses can seek help through an emergency cell created by the City with support from the Paris Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Assistance includes guidance on cash flow, tax and social obligations, and legal issues, with free consultations provided by the Paris bar.

Rules for new or modified terraces remain

Businesses wanting to create or change a terrace still need to apply through the city’s online service. The rules prohibit using heating or air conditioning for open terraces, and the new deadline of November 30 applies only to already authorized establishments, after which they will follow the regular schedule.
