Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles recently shared with her TikTok followers that she was the victim of a car theft, losing her luxury Porsche GTS to three masked men during her time in Chicago. Biles, 29, explained that the incident occurred in the last few months and contributed to her and her husband, Jonathan Owens, deciding to get a Dobermann Pinscher for added security. While her old car was later recovered, Biles and Owens, who is a safety for the Indianapolis Colts, opted to purchase a new vehicle. Biles made headlines earlier this year when she revealed on social media that she had nearly died, though she did not disclose the exact circumstances surrounding the incident. Chicago police have not provided an official incident report to media outlets like NBC News, which has left some details of the car theft unclear. The situation is part of a broader trend where high-profile athletes have increasingly reported incidents of theft and break-ins in their homes. In recent years, several prominent athletes across various sports have faced similar challenges. For example, Kansas City Chiefs players Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce were both victims of robberies in October 2024. Similarly, basketball players Sabrina Ionescu of the New York Liberty and Karl-Anthony Towns of the New York Knicks had their homes robbed in 2025. These incidents highlight a growing concern for the security of athletes' personal lives, even as they achieve fame and success in their respective sports. Another recent case involved Shedeur Sanders, a player for the Cleveland Browns, whose home was robbed by four men while he was playing a game earlier this year. These events have prompted many athletes to take additional precautions, including acquiring security measures like guard dogs, to protect their homes and personal belongings. As public figures, these athletes often find themselves in the spotlight not only for their athletic achievements but also for the challenges they face in maintaining their privacy and safety.
