Program termination sparks protest

Elected officials and the director of the Action des collectivités territoriales pour l'efficacité énergétique (Actee) program have protested against the government's decision to end the program, which supports local authorities in thermally renovating schools.

Director criticizes timing of decision

Guillaume Perrin, the director of Actee, said the decision "breaks the renovation momentum at a time when the municipal term begins, when heatwaves have closed schools, when energy prices are rising and investments are being planned."

Local authorities demand reconsideration

The national federation of concessionary and regulated local authorities (FNCCR), represented by Dominique Ramard and Danièle Mametz, called on the government to reconsider its decision, stating it was made without proper consultation.

Government cites shift in energy policy

According to the officials, the government justified the program's termination by wanting to refocus energy savings certificates (CEE) on electrification rather than thermal renovation.

Program scope reduced significantly

In June, a plan was announced to support 12,500 educational institutions, with priority given to those most exposed to high temperatures. However, officials claim the program is now limited to adapting 2,500 schools to high temperatures.
