Artist's background and inspiration

Yassmine Benchrifa, a Moroccan artist, explores the transitions that mark a life and the transformations that shape an identity through her dance performance Incendia. The performance, choreographed and performed by Benchrifa, is part of the Festival d'Automne 2026 and takes place on 24 and 25 October 2026 at MC 93 in Bobigny. It is also included in the Mediterranean Season 2026.

Early exposure to hip-hop

Benchrifa discovered hip-hop at the age of 12, captivated by the expressiveness and raw energy of this urban culture. She later joined Nafass, the first contemporary dance school in Morocco. Her first solo, which won the Taklif competition in Marrakech, was inspired by her personal journey.

Performance concept and themes

In her performance, she portrays the successive states of a body caught in the continuous flow of life, where everything is transition. The artistic advisory for Incendia includes Michelle Murray, Héla Fattoumi, and Éric Lamoureux, while the sound design is by Lamqayssi Mohamed and Gabriel Tetti.
