Haute-Corse, a region in the north of the island of Corsica, may experience thunderstorms with strong intensities in a short period of time on Thursday, according to weather forecasts. Although autumn is well marked on the calendar, the weather in Corsica has not yet shown clear signs of seasonal change. Early in the week, the sun remains present, and temperatures are still higher than usual for this time of year. Light showers may occur in mountainous areas but are not expected to be significant. Temperatures are currently 3 to 5 degrees Celsius above the seasonal average, continuing a notably warm September. The weather situation is expected to gradually change over the coming days. On Wednesday, thunderstorms may begin, but they will be limited mainly to the mountains and in very localized areas. The most significant weather deterioration is expected on Thursday afternoon, coming from the continent. The Cortenais, Castagniccia, and Fium'Orbu regions are likely to be affected by heavy showers. Patrice Fourcade, a forecaster at Météo-France in Ajaccio, explains that strong thunderstorms could occur in a short period of time, though wind will not be the main factor in this weather event. On Friday, the weather will remain unstable, with precipitation mainly affecting the interior of the island. The weekend is also expected to be slightly unstable, though heavy rains are not anticipated, unlike on the continent. Despite these changes, temperatures are expected to remain high. Fourcade notes that the heat will persist, with temperatures staying above average until Sunday or even Monday. A slight decrease of 2 to 3 degrees Celsius may occur next week, but autumn will have to wait, as the region continues to experience very warm temperatures.
