The first glimpse of the next phone in Google's Pixel series, the Pixel 11a, has been shared by Android Headlines in collaboration with leaker OnLeaks. This phone would closely resemble the Pixel 10a, which was released in March 2026. While the design appears nearly identical, internal changes suggest that Google is skipping a generation of chip technology. The camera setup remains flush with the back of the phone, without the raised camera bar found in flagship models. The only visible difference is a slightly shorter oval shape for the camera module, with the flash still placed next to it. At the front, the Pixel 11a retains thick bezels around its 6.3-inch screen, a design choice that feels increasingly outdated for a phone expected in 2027. The dimensions of the device are nearly identical to the Pixel 10a, measuring 153.46 x 72.35 x 9 mm, just slightly smaller than the Pixel 10a’s 153.9 x 73 x 9 mm. These minor differences might render existing cases for the Pixel 10a incompatible, according to Android Headlines. Google has indicated that the current design will remain consistent for about three generations, starting with the Pixel 9a in 2025. A significant design change is expected with the Pixel 12a and Pixel 12. The Pixel 11a would be available in four colors: black, silver, green, and violet. The violet option, not seen in several generations, recalls the pale "Purple-ish" of the Pixel 3a from 2019 and the deeper "Iris" of the Pixel 9a. According to a July leak, the Pixel 11a would skip to the Tensor G6 chip, the same one used in the Pixel 11. This chip uses a MediaTek modem instead of the previous Samsung one, offering improved signal reception and better power management. The screen would also see an increase in peak brightness to 3,350 nits, up from 3,000 nits on the Pixel 10a. Leaks suggest a minimum battery capacity of 4,870 mAh. Pricing for the Pixel 11a is expected to remain at 549 euros, consistent with the Pixel 8a and avoiding the recent trend of rising smartphone prices. While the Pixel 10a owners may not have a reason to upgrade, users with the Pixel 7a or Pixel 8a would benefit from a significant leap in chip technology. Google has not officially announced the Pixel 11a yet, but it is expected to launch in February or March 2027, aligning with the company's usual release schedule.
