The production of The Other Bennet Sister Christmas special has officially wrapped filming, as confirmed by show producer Edoardo Ferretti on social media. This three-part special will air in the UK on BBC iPlayer and BBC One, and in the US and Canada on BritBox. The filming took place primarily in Wales during the summer, continuing the show's tradition of using Welsh locations. The first series of the show, which was inspired by Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, was also filmed in south Wales, including places like Merthyr Mawr, the Gower peninsula, and Brecon. The first series of The Other Bennet Sister was a hit, attracting 7.3 million UK viewers in its first four weeks. It focused on Mary Bennet, the middle daughter of the Bennet family, as she dealt with the social expectations of Regency England. The series concluded with Mary deciding to marry Tom Hayward, a significant development for her character. The Christmas special will continue these storylines, based on the original novel by Janice Hadlow, and will be written by Sarah Quintrell with Asim Abbasi returning to direct. Several returning cast members will reprise their roles in the special, including Ruth Jones as Mrs. Bennet, Tanya Reynolds as Caroline Bingley, and others who played key roles in the first series. Newcomer Nerys Amber-Stocks will join the cast as Lucy, Mary’s housemaid. The BBC has hinted that the special will explore themes of identity and transformation, asking, "With marriage comes a new identity and the question remains: who will Mary become as Mrs. Hayward?" This promises to be an intriguing continuation of the story that has already captured the attention of many viewers.
