Sarah Platt is set to face trial for the murder of Theo Silverton. While she has been awaiting the trial, life on the fictional British soap opera Coronation Street has continued as usual. Sarah recently ended her relationship with Kit Green, and although she likely expected him to eventually move on, it has made it difficult for her daughter, Bethany Platt, to reveal that Kit has indeed done so. In fact, Bethany is one of the people Kit has moved on with. Actress Lucy Fallon, who portrays Bethany, explained that Bethany wants her mother to move on from Kit and focus on herself and her eventual release from prison. If Sarah is released and reconciles with Kit, it would complicate Bethany’s secret even further. Next week, Bethany returns home to find Kit bringing another woman to their shared flat. When Kit tells her he isn’t in the right headspace to kiss the woman, she storms out. The next day, Bethany prepares to visit Sarah and tells her that Kit is dating other women and bringing them home in the hope that Sarah will move on. This way, Bethany hopes she will never have to admit she slept with Kit. During a conversation with Ryan Connor, Bethany is interrupted by Michael Bailey, who is excited after being offered Sarah’s job at the factory. Sarah has not had an easy time in prison, and Lucy revealed that Bethany is suspicious of how nonchalant her mother seems. She doesn’t believe Sarah is coping well at all. In fact, Bethany thinks Sarah appears too calm about everything, especially since others on the outside are going through a lot. Bethany is worried that Sarah is handling the situation too calmly, which is concerning. After seeing Sarah with bruises on her face, she realizes this is far from an ideal situation. As Sarah prepares to face trial, it remains unclear whether she will remain in prison for a longer period or if she will be able to rebuild her life sooner rather than later. The outcome of the trial could have significant consequences for Sarah and those around her, including her family and former relationships.
