Upon arrival, the pilot flew over the wreck of the battleship Liberté at an altitude of twelve meters. This aerial maneuver was intended to honor the memory of military sailors who had died in service one month earlier during the tragic explosion of the ship.

A funeral wreath of immortelle flowers was then thrown by the aviator from his aircraft. This gesture symbolized a respectful remembrance of the deceased sailors.

Jules Védrines then continued his aerial journey toward the city of Marseille. This sixty-five kilometer aerial connection was covered in twenty minutes.
