FlyOne Armenia, an Armenian airline based at Yerevan's Zvartnots International Airport, has finalized the purchase of two Airbus A321neo aircraft. This follows a preliminary agreement made in May during a visit by French President Emmanuel Macron to Yerevan. The aircraft, which can carry 239 passengers in economy class and are powered by LEAP-1A engines, are meant to support the airline's network expansion. The order, announced on September 30, marks FlyOne Armenia's first direct purchase of new aircraft from Airbus. The deal was originally outlined in a memorandum of understanding during Macron's visit in May 2026, which has now been confirmed as a firm order. Airbus has not yet provided details on when the planes will be delivered. Aram Khachatryan, general director of FlyOne Armenia, described the order in an Airbus press release as an important and symbolic step for the company's development. He viewed the acquisition as an investment in modernizing the fleet and ensuring long-term growth. The A321neo aircraft will be equipped with 239 economy-class seats and LEAP-1A engines from CFM International. Earlier in July, CFM International had confirmed that FlyOne Armenia had signed a memorandum of understanding for four of these engines for the two planes. Airbus highlights that the A320neo family, which includes the A321neo, offers at least a 20% reduction in fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions compared to older single-aisle aircraft. FlyOne Armenia, established in 2021, operates flights to more than 26 destinations across Europe, the Middle East, and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). Some of its key routes include Paris, Nice, Rome, Moscow, and Tbilisi. The airline reported transporting over three million passengers by the end of 2025. Its current fleet includes seven aircraft from the A320ceo family, with one A319CJ aircraft used for government purposes. The airline has noted France's involvement in its development, recalling its first flight to Lyon in December 2021 and the launch of regular service between Yerevan and Paris-Charles-de-Gaulle in spring 2022. The partnership with France has played a key role in FlyOne Armenia's early operations. The airline's route to Paris, a major European hub, has helped it establish a presence in international air travel. With the new aircraft order, FlyOne Armenia is positioning itself for future growth, aiming to expand its reach and improve its fleet's efficiency. The acquisition of the A321neo aircraft, with their advanced engines and fuel efficiency, aligns with the airline's goals of modernization and sustainability.
