Legal report highlights poor conditions

A report published on Wednesday, October 21, by four lawyers from the Seine-Saint-Denis bar details the deplorable conditions in which seventeen minors were held at the Bobigny judicial court detention center. The report includes photographs to support the findings and was accompanied by detailed observations from the legal professionals involved.

Conditions described as unsanitary and cold

The lawyers described seeing two teenagers on the floor of one cell, wrapped in survival blankets and with a urine bottle nearby. They noted that minors are forced to sleep in cold and unsanitary conditions at the detention center, which raises serious concerns about their well-being and treatment.

Detention center under scrutiny

The report comes after a previous scandal involving rapes at the Bobigny detention center. Despite commitments made following that incident, adolescents continue to be held at the facility, indicating that improvements have not been fully implemented or enforced.

Legal professionals call for reform

The lawyers emphasized the need for urgent reform and better oversight of the detention center. They highlighted that the conditions not only violate basic human dignity but also pose significant risks to the health and safety of the minors in custody.
