Lyon supporters banned from Paris match

L’Olympique lyonnais supporters will be banned from attending its league match against Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes on October 25. A police decree issued on October 14 prohibits any person associated with Lyon from entering the stadium or moving freely in a defined area around it in Paris and Boulogne-Billancourt.

Restrictions based on safety concerns

The decision is based on concerns about potential confrontations between Lyon and PSG supporters. Authorities cite past incidents, including a clash at a toll near Fresnes-lès-Montauban before the 2024 Coupe de France final. They estimate that 700 to 900 Lyon supporters might have attended the match, with 300 to 500 of them considered high-risk individuals.

Limited scope of the ban

The restrictions apply only to the area around the Parc des Princes and are not a general ban on travel between Lyon and Paris. The decree also prohibits the possession of dangerous objects, glass bottles, and alcoholic beverages in the restricted area during the match day.

No access to away supporters’ area

As a result of the decree, no Lyon supporters will be allowed into the designated away supporters’ area at the stadium unless the restrictions are lifted or modified before the match on October 25.
