Black blocs are hard to identify

The difficulty in identifying and arresting the main perpetrators of violence during demonstrations, particularly the black blocs, has been highlighted by hosts Benjamin Glaise and Jean-Marie Godard.

Black blocs lack structure

Black blocs are described as not being a structured organization, which makes their identification and arrest challenging. These temporary groups consist of individuals who cover themselves in black to confront law enforcement during demonstrations.

Ultra-violent individuals can be identified

Ultra-violent individuals who intervene at the end of processions to attack law enforcement can be identified, but as long as they have not committed direct offenses, they cannot be prohibited from moving freely.

Black blocs have varied motivations

Black blocs are composed of politically motivated individuals, less engaged people, and those who come for the adrenaline and fighting. Law enforcement struggles to arrest black bloc members because they blend into the crowd and disappear when confrontations become too dangerous or when law enforcement becomes too numerous.

Pre-checks are the main prevention

Pre-checks and the confiscation of anything that could be used as a weapon, mask, or found in backpacks are the only measures to prevent the formation of black blocs.
