A320 celebrates 40th anniversary

The A320, a popular single-aisle jet, will mark 40 years since its first flight in early 2025, and Airbus plans to keep investing in the aircraft's development and production.

Airbus plans continued investment

Airbus has no plans to reduce its investments in the A320 family, even as it aims to increase production to 75 units per month. This effort is part of a broader strategy to maintain the aircraft's competitiveness in the market.

Improvements for A320neo family

During a presentation in Toulouse on October 13, Airbus outlined several upgrades intended to extend the operational life of the A320neo family, which currently has a backlog of 7,535 aircraft awaiting delivery.

Focus on affordability and certification

Christoph Zammert, director of the A320 family program at Airbus, emphasized the company's commitment to ongoing research and development, ensuring the aircraft remains marketable, manufacturable, certifiable, and affordable for airlines.

Long-term production plans

Airbus also confirmed its intention to continue producing A320 family aircraft well into the 2040s, even as it prepares for the launch of the next single-aisle aircraft program in the late 2030s.
