Salesforce is expanding its Missionforce program, which uses artificial intelligence (AI) to support government missions, by partnering with OpenAI and Nvidia. This collaboration will bring in advanced AI models from OpenAI and Nvidia’s powerful computing technologies to create specialized AI tools tailored for government use. These new capabilities aim to address complex challenges faced by public sector organizations, such as managing logistics, improving security, and streamlining operations. Government agencies require AI solutions that are both effective and secure, often operating in highly sensitive environments. Kendall Collins, CEO of Missionforce & Government Cloud, explained that the program delivers AI tools designed to run within secure, private networks. This ensures that critical government operations are not only efficient but also protected from external threats. The AI systems are built to handle tasks that would otherwise require manual processes, such as managing supplier contracts or auditing invoices, by automating these workflows and providing real-time insights. One example of this technology in action is the Missionforce Field Operations & Asset Management tool. This tool allows government agencies to use AI agents for tasks like scheduling maintenance, managing work orders, and tracking assets. These AI tools are especially useful in remote locations where internet access may be limited, as they can operate offline on mobile devices. This capability ensures that even in isolated environments, government operations remain efficient and well-managed. Salesforce marked the first anniversary of the Missionforce program, noting that the public sector has become its fastest-growing business area. The defense sector, in particular, has seen an 80% year-over-year increase in growth, driven by rising demand for secure AI solutions. Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff emphasized the company’s commitment to supporting U.S. government missions during his keynote at Dreamforce 2026. The expansion of Missionforce now enables Salesforce to work with over 60 federal agencies, all 15 U.S. Cabinet departments, all 50 states, and all six branches of the U.S. military across more than 30 countries. Collins highlighted the rapid progress government agencies are making in transitioning from AI aspirations to real-world implementation. She noted that the defense sector plays a key role in this shift, as secure data and actionable intelligence are crucial for mission readiness. With new partnerships and tools, Missionforce is helping agencies deploy AI in ways that meet the high standards of security, accountability, and control required for their most critical operations.
