Two fatalities were reported in two separate quad accidents in the Loire department on Sunday morning. The incidents occurred about 30 kilometers apart and involved two men in their fifties. These types of accidents often happen on rural roads or off-road terrain, where quads—motorized vehicles similar to dirt bikes—are commonly used for recreation or transportation. The first accident took place in La-Valla-en-Gier, a small village located within the Regional Natural Park of Pilat. This area is known for its natural beauty and challenging terrain, making it difficult for emergency services to reach quickly. Because of the remote location, specialized rescue teams had to be deployed to reach the scene. When emergency responders arrived, they found the victim in cardiac and respiratory arrest. Despite efforts to resuscitate him, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The second accident occurred in Saint-Romain-le-Puy, approximately 30 kilometers from Saint-Etienne. In this case, a 51-year-old quad rider was involved in a collision with a car on a departmental road—local roads that connect smaller towns and villages. The impact proved fatal, and the man died as a result of the crash. Both incidents highlight the dangers associated with quad use, particularly in areas with challenging terrain or heavy traffic. Emergency services and local authorities often remind the public to exercise caution when operating such vehicles, especially in areas where the risk of serious injury or death is higher.
