Fire at Lyon CRA facility

A fire broke out at an administrative detention center (CRA) in Lyon on Saturday, October 17, around 8:15 p.m. The incident occurred outside of ongoing demonstrations and in support of the national movement, according to a police source. Firefighters had to intervene but were hindered by some detainees. Seven detainees, two firefighters, and 18 police officers were affected by the smoke.

PAF director issues warning

The director of the French border police (PAF) has called for increased vigilance at administrative detention centers (CRA) following recent incidents. This directive came after the fire in Lyon, which raised concerns about the security of these facilities.

Telegram highlights threats

The PAF director sent a telegram to his forces warning of potential threats targeting CRA facilities. The telegram, obtained by BFMTV, states that recent events at the CRA have prompted the need to maintain a high level of vigilance to prevent protest movements from causing significant damage or posing risks to individuals present in these facilities.

Increased security measures

The director emphasized that vigilance is necessary both inside and outside the premises, particularly against actions that could target state representations and law enforcement personnel. The PAF director instructed CRA facilities to increase patrols and to report any events to their hierarchy, especially any malfunctions of video systems or alarms.
