Gabby Thomas, played by Rosie Bentham, has expressed deep sadness following the death of "uncle" Jimmy King in the ITV soap opera Emmerdale. Jimmy, who died in a tragic car accident during the wedding of Dawn Taylor and Joe Tate, was not related to Gabby by blood but was considered her uncle through marriage. This connection comes from Gabby’s mother, Bernice Blackstock, who is the sister of Nicola King, Jimmy’s wife. As a result, Jimmy was a significant figure in Gabby’s life, acting as a family member for much of her childhood. The accident was caused by Vinny Dingle, who was on the phone with Gabby when he failed to see Jimmy, leading to the crash. This tragic event not only resulted in Jimmy’s death but also caused Dawn to give birth to Joe’s child before suffering a haemorrhage and dying. The double tragedy left Gabby in deep emotional pain, especially since she referred to Jimmy as her uncle. This led to some confusion among viewers, as the familial relationship was not immediately clear to everyone. Nicola King, Jimmy’s widow, confronted Gabby about the relationship, and Gabby confirmed that Jimmy was indeed considered her uncle through her mother’s sister. This connection is further strengthened by Gabby’s close bond with her stepmother, Laurel Thomas, who was married to Gabby’s father, Ashley. Laurel played a major role in Gabby’s upbringing and was a close friend of Nicola, which explains the strong family ties that made Jimmy an important part of Gabby’s life. Gabby’s grief over Jimmy’s death has had real consequences in the show. She was recently kicked out of Home Farm, leading her to move in with Laurel. This move could create tension with Nicola, who may feel that Gabby’s presence in their home is unwelcome. As the story unfolds, the emotional impact of Jimmy’s death continues to affect Gabby’s relationships and her place within the Emmerdale family.
