Architects in France are gathering to address challenges facing the profession, including climate and territorial planning, while Corsica faces severe weather impacts.
Meeting to address architectural challenges
Elected officials and directors from architectural order councils met in Lyon in June of last year to discuss the difficulties faced by architecture firms and the role of architects in territorial development. A follow-up meeting is scheduled for October 26 and 27 in Ajaccio, organized by the Ordre des architectes de Corse.Inter-regional gathering in Ajaccio
The meeting will bring together elected officials and directors from five regional councils at the Cité Grossetti in Ajaccio. The event aims to be an inter-regional gathering focused on the challenges facing the architectural profession, covering topics such as climate change and territorial planning.Architects highlight their challenges
Sylvia Ghipponi, president of the Ordre des architectes de Corse, emphasized the growing difficulties faced by architecture firms. She called for sharing experiences among representatives from Corsica, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, Brittany, Hauts-de-France, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, and Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur to promote the role of architects and support professionals.Focus on collaboration and expertise
The discussions will address the recognition of architects by elected officials, legal procedures, and improving relations with administrative services. Ghipponi cited Brittany's collaboration with URSSAF as an example of successful efforts. A joint document outlining the technical, cultural, economic, environmental, and social expertise of architects will be finalized in Ajaccio before being shared with mayors and regional leaders.Regular meetings for regional collaboration
These meetings, held three times a year for over two years, allow regional councils to share their skills. Ghipponi noted that the goal is to pool expertise for the benefit of architectural orders across regions, not just within individual areas.Storm alert in Corsica
Separately, Corsica is under a yellow alert for wind, with gusts up to 150 km/h expected in Cap Corse. Storms have caused significant damage to farmers in the eastern plain, including power outages, blocked roads, and exceptional rainfall. A national outage has also been reported on Orange's mobile network.
