Colombian producer Federico Durán, who has long collaborated with the production company Rhayuela Films—known for the popular series Alias María—has officially launched his new production company, El Sol Ermitaño. The announcement took place at the San Sebastian Film Festival, a prestigious event in the European film calendar that showcases international cinema. Durán remains a shareholder in Rhayuela Films, indicating a continued partnership despite his new venture. El Sol Ermitaño's first project, Lovers Go Home!, is currently participating in the festival’s "pix-in-post" program, known as WIP LatAm. This initiative allows filmmakers to present their work-in-progress to industry professionals, offering feedback and potential opportunities for collaboration. The program highlights emerging talent and innovative storytelling from Latin America. Lovers Go Home! is directed by Juan Sebastián Mesa, a filmmaker known for his critically acclaimed work The Nobodies. Mesa’s previous project explored themes of identity and social exclusion, suggesting that his new film may also tackle personal or societal issues through a narrative lens. The involvement of Mesa adds credibility and artistic depth to El Sol Ermitaño’s debut. The launch of El Sol Ermitaño marks a significant step in Durán’s career, reflecting his ambition to expand his influence in the film industry. By introducing new projects through platforms like WIP LatAm, Durán and his team are positioning themselves at the forefront of Latin American cinema, aiming to bring fresh voices and stories to a global audience.
