The trial of Rémy Daillet, a former YouTube personality based in Malaysia and leader of a far-right conspiracy group, continues at the Paris correctional court. Daillet is being tried alongside 14 others for forming an association of wrongdoers with the aim of preparing acts of terrorism and for complicity in the offense of the removal of a minor by an ascendant. The trial includes allegations that Daillet organized the kidnapping of an 8-year-old girl, Mia M, in 2021 to hand her over to her mother, Lola, who had lost custody. Mia's mother testified in the trial for complicity in the kidnapping and removal of a minor by an ascendant. During the hearing, Daillet, who previously represented the MoDem party, adopted a professorial demeanor, taking notes and addressing the court with confidence. He claimed to have organized the abduction of Mia M and the preparation of a coup d'état, but he described his role as gathering individuals to "rearm them morally" and prevent them from acting violently. Daillet also cited conspiracy theories about the deep state, vaccines, and the U.S. government, stating he used these narratives to resonate with a "particularly worried opinion." Daillet faced questions about antisemitic elements in the case and responded by referencing historical events, including the Nuremberg trials, asserting that the accused did not have the right to refute the accusations. He claimed to be talking about a "political nuisance" rather than physical violence. When confronted with evidence, Daillet shifted blame to an email address "France Royale" used by several people, including himself, but refused to name them. Daillet described himself as a "moral authority" with a veto right, legitimizing his actions through a constructed narrative. He referenced historical figures such as Joan of Arc, General de Gaulle, and "François Bayrou," positioning himself as a chosen one to save France. Daillet outlined an organizational chart divided into military and political branches, including an international political bureau, a pool of lawyers, and a general staff. He proposed himself as the next king and described his movement as having 20,000 to 30,000 sympathizers. Daillet also discussed plans for "the training and adjustment of the troops" through the "rescue of children" placed "abusively" by the judge. When asked about his legitimacy regarding Mia M's placement, Daillet stated that his positions in 2021 "today seem limited." He described himself as a citizen trying to save someone "in a burning car." Daillet, who faces up to ten years in prison, claimed the investigation is going in the wrong direction and that some words are misleading the court. He stated he sees himself as "formidable for the system from an intellectual point of view" and asserted he is not dangerous.
