The Garmin Edge 1040, a premium GPS cycling computer launched in 2022, is currently on sale for 391.99 euros on the Alltricks website, a discount from its usual price of 449.99 euros. This reduced price is available for a limited time, making it a good opportunity for cyclists looking to upgrade their gear. The Edge 1040 is part of Garmin’s popular Edge series, which includes the newer Edge 1050 model that has since been released. The Edge 1040 is available in two versions: a standard model and a Solar version that includes solar charging capabilities. It features a 3.5-inch transflective color touchscreen, which is easy to read even in direct sunlight. The device is compact, measuring 5.8 x 8.5 cm, and weighs just 133 grams. It includes a barometric altimeter, temperature sensor, and supports multiple global navigation satellite systems such as Glonass and Galileo, which improve location accuracy. Additionally, it has an LED lighting system that enhances visibility during low-light conditions. One of the device’s standout features is its battery life. In standard GPS mode, it can last up to 35 hours, while Eco mode extends this to 70 hours. If most features are disabled, the battery can last up to 90 hours. The device charges via a USB-C port protected by an IPX7-certified flap, which means it is resistant to water and dust. A full charge takes approximately three hours, and an external Garmin battery can double the battery life. The Edge 1040 also offers customizable widgets on its home screen and allows users to set up different profiles for various cycling disciplines, such as road, mountain biking, and gravel. It can also provide alerts for hydration and cadence, helping users monitor their performance more effectively.
